The Nike Air VaporMax Plus Neon trainer combines the uppers of the Air Max Plus TN from the late 90s with the futuristic sole unit of the more recent VaporMax.
If there was any Nike Air Max trainer that really gained worldwide appeal as a hybrid trainer it was arguably the Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97 trainer from 2018. The concept of a hybrid Air Max trainer is just great, if it works together, and in the case of this latest Nike Air VaporMax Plus Neon trainer this is definitely the case. Combining the uppers of the Nike Air Max Plus TN trainer which was re-released back in 2018 with the sole unit of the Air VaporMax, the end result is a futuristic looking sneaker that ticks all the boxes.
First released in 1998 and designed by Sean McDowell, the Air Max TN Plus took inspiration from the beaches of Florida with its palm trees and sunsets. Sometimes also referred to as the Tn (Tuned Air) the Air Max Plus TN trainer was born out of a simple sketch that McDowell put together whilst sat chilling on the beach. McDowell also incorporated the hexagonal Tn Air logo into the Air Max story for the very first time.
The Air Max Plus TN is now treated to a very special hybrid drop, swapping the Tuned Air cushioning unit for the latest VaporMax sole unit. The hybrid shoe features a colour-faded neoprene upper with touches of neon to the swooshes & the tongue. The original TN branding is updated to ‘VM’ for what could easily be one of the hottest looking hybrid VaporMax trainers of 2020 so far.
