Rumoured to be dubbed as the ‘Freddy Krueger’, due to the loose resemblance of the character from the Nightmare on Elm Street film franchise. Nightmare on Elm Street was first released in 1984 and features the gruesome looking killer that appears in your nightmares. The signature stripy jumper & bloody bladed glove now give inspiration to the forthcoming Halloween release with the Nike Air Max 95 ‘Freddy Krueger’ trainer.SHOP AM95 FREDDY KRUEGER
Back in 2007, Nike created the Freddy Dunk Low Pro SB, however according to the brand, they “encountered issue after issue”, meaning that the pair failed to reach full production. There are many rumours about Nike receiving a ‘cease-to-desist’ letter from New Line Cinema, the pairs having to be incinerated, an employee making an escape with some oil-stained, boxless pairs and even a skate shop in Mexico accidentally selling a few pairs early. Some rumours go on to state that there are a total of 30 Freddy Dunk Lows still circulating. Whether or not the rumours are true, the myths behind the highly sought after Freddy Dunks, could lead to a lot of hype surrounding the forthcoming ‘Freddy Krueger’ AM95 trainer.SHOP AM95 FREDDY KRUEGER
The upper is a nod to the character’s signature striped jumper, only with slightly more muted tones, using beige and dark red instead of the famous dark green and red. These contrasting side panels are crafted from what looks like canvas, followed by a mesh upper and finished with small contrast stitch detailing, to give the shoe a ragged look, much like Freddy’s jumper. The beige colouring continues from the mesh upper onto the laces which are held in place by light beige eyelets.SHOP AM95 FREDDY KRUEGER
The toe is dressed in a cool grey suede, blending nicely into the grey checked tongue which is complete with the iconic Air Max tongue badge logo, in brown and beige with black and red stitching. The heel tab and tongue overlay are in blood splattered metallic silver, inspired by the antagonists’ blades, with the blood dripping down the heel from behind the black Nike logo. The upper is complete with a red embroidered swoosh in the same ‘blood red’.SHOP AM95 FREDDY KRUEGER
Underfoot, a beige midsole, giving a worn-out look, sits atop a black rubber outsole and concealing a grey insole with a blood-dripping Swoosh graphic. Finally, red and black, bloody looking air bags to complete the look. An official release date for the Nike Air Max 95 ‘Freddy Krueger’ is yet to be confirmed, however we do know it will be part of Nike’s limited edition Halloween pack this year, joining a long line-up of other spooky silhouettes.
