The Nike Air Max 90 ‘Infrared’ trainer gets treated to a very special re-release as part of the ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations of the early 90s icon.
As the 1980s transitioned into the 1990s the world was becoming a different place. The Berlin Wall had officially fallen and a sense of unity & freedom was spreading across the streets of Europe. This new wave of unity marked the next generation of subcultures across the continent which brought with it a brand new era of colourful sportswear. The 80s had seen the colourful casuals with their flash Fila tops but it was the 90s that really took sportswear to the next level. It was OG Air Max icons like the Nike Air Max 90′ Infrared’ trainer from Tinker Hatfield which really set the bar at the turn of the decade as far as trainer technology was concerned. An OG icon was born and a classic colourway that is still considered one of the greatest of all time.
Our German friends over at 43einhalb have now put together a little video to celebrate the re-release of the coveted Air Max colourway in all its OG 90s glory. Originally dubbed the Nike Air Max III, the silhouette was first released in 1990 in the iconic Radiant Red colourway, also known as Infrared later down the line. A popular style among runners from Manhattan to Manchester the Air Max 90 quickly became a favoured lifestyle trainer for those looking for the extra bounce in their step. It was the early noughties re-release that brought back the 90s style to a new audience with the Air Max 90 becoming a massive hit on the UK’s Garage & Grime scene.
The OG style is now treated to a very special re-release for November 2020. Features include synthetic leather & mesh uppers with a woven tongue patch with classic AM branding. The signature ribbed TPU detailing gets the classic ‘Infrared’ treatment to the heel, eye-stays & midsole for a 1:1 re-issue of the Tinker Hatfield icon. The Nike Air Max 90 ‘Infrared’ trainer launches this coming Saturday 28th November 2020.
